Up north here in the mid-Atlantic area, we are finally able to get out on the course! I had been getting some clubs and other equipment to test for reviews at Waggle Room over the past couples of months. On Saturday, I was finally able to get out and play!
My girlfriend and I went out to Fairway Hills Golf Course in Columbia, MD. It was a windy afternoon – gusts around 25 mph. The course is a short one, though, so the wind wasn’t that bad. At times, it even helped.
It has been wet here recently, so the new Pro V1 that I was playing got negative roll. Still, I shot pretty well overall. So did my girlfriend. She had a really nice sandy from a par 3 bunker.
On that same par 3, I saw the value of this whole TANG Golfing movement in action.
Adjacent to the 7th hole are some apartments that are affordable housing in the area. A couple of kids from the apartments were hanging out at the tee box, playing with worms. They saw us approaching and asked some questions about golf. The kids said they wanted to watch us play. We said sure.
I hit a tee shot a little short and my girlfriend went into the bunker. The kids asked us why we didn’t take our tees with us. We explained that we had busted them. Then, when I was chipping from the fringe, they wanted to know why I didn’t tee the ball up again. They thought I was going to hit the ball into the road. I didn’t – I wound up getting up and down, like my girlfriend.
At the end, we each gave them a ball since they seemed to want to try for themselves. They asked where we were going. We had to get to the next hole, we told them. We let them know that another group was coming through behind us. They went back to the tee to patiently wait.

Tang good for you! Imagine the possibilities of getting clubs into those kids hands and letting them hang around the…Tang check out SNAG – they have an awesome program that can introduce golf to kids who have never played. The great thing is that you do not need a course. All you need is a small open space, gym or court and they are off to the races. I started a program in my town called Smart Start Golf through The National Alliance For Youth Sports that utilizes the equipment, awesome teaching tools. Great way to introduce the game of golf.
Take care,
